Team Karaoke for the Cure is gearing up for the 2009 season and we need your support! We will be hosting a Garage Sale for the Cure in late May and are also looking at securing dates for our annual Cookout for the Cure and Karaoke for the Cure events (both to be held in September). It has been brought to our attention that another team in the Bradenton area will be hosting a "Karaoke for the Cure" event at Pelican Pete's in Cortez on May 8th. Please do not confuse this with our team and our annual event. This is a separate team raising money for Relay for Life.
According to The Independent (a UK news source), "While the death rate (for breast cancer) has fallen, the incidence of the disease has soared, doubling since 1971 to over 45,000 cases a year. More than three out of four women diagnosed with breast cancer survive more than five years today, compared with half in the early 1970s."
